For over 100 years, tourists share a fascination for the community “Burg Spreewald”. Located in the upper east side of the Spreewald forest and right in the middle of the beautiful lowland landscapes of Europe, UNESCO declared it a biosphere reserve in 1991. The ones who visit the community will find magnificent trees like old oaks, orchard meadows, and more. Some hidden gems can only be discovered by the traditional Spreewald punt or a canoe.

The oldest part is the “Burg-Dorf” as stated in a sales certificate from the 29th of September 1315 they mention it as “Villa Bork”, bork mansion. Some findings on the Schlossberg hint to the first settlers in the bronze age. Approx. 600 a.C. the “Wenden” settled in the area and around the year 1000.
